GLAM Cake

*Warning...Pics are horrible...I really need to take a class...get a background or something...SHEESH!

Anyways, here is the GLAM cake & cupcakes I did for hubby's co-worker. She is such a girly girl I ran with it. The pictures really dont do it justice at all. She loved it. She's leaving on a girlfriend getaway & wants to figure out how to take it on the plane. Not sure how that one will pan out. I'm thinking it wont. lol

Anyone else noticing a pattern with the darn stars? lol I told my daughter that I really need to move on. They just always seem to work with what I'm doing & they're the perfect size for fillers. So I am trying to expand my horizons & look for something new to add.

And I really am finishing up her zebra purse mini-album....seriously I am. They decided to give her the gifts on monday when she returns from her trip. Kind of a sigh of relief for me. I got a couple pages into it & hit a roadblock with all that hot pink. So how do you cure that....SHOPPING! Yes, a trip to the scrapbook store fixed me up just fine. So I will be back to share this weekend if not sooner.

Have a creative day! ~Toodles

Here's a peek

at the page I did for Landon's scrapbook. I love how it turned out. It is kind of busy but I still love it. :)
I just have to get the shower scrapped now. So much to do.

I've also been looking at wipey cases & how to decorate those. I guess its the new rage. We never had those things when my kids were young. It's amazing all the new gadgets they have for making life easier.

I know this is short but I really did'nt plan on coming in at all.....so I will be back when I have more to share.

Crazy Hectic

Crazy & Hectic pretty much sums it up around here. lol

This is how we spent lastnight.....

Yes, in labor & delivery. Tarynn has been having pain for a few days. She contacted her OB/GYN & they recommended she go in & be checked. She was already dilated to one.  As us mothers know it can still be a long road to delivery from there. So they checked her out & gave her something to help her sleep.

I have no doubt she wont make it to her March 27th due date. We are secretly hoping she has him on our anniversary March 17th. She is ready to pop now. So it should'nt be to long before we have a baby here. :) Yay!

As for the crafty side of life....I am super excited about a class I'm gonna take in May with Donna Downey. I have followed her for a long time & love her approach to scrapping & crafting. Who would of thought she would show up here in Arkansas. I'm beyond the moon that she is though. This bright canvas & fabric album is the class I'm taking.

I kind of hit a  creative bump with my purse mini album. Trying to get over that so I can finish it up. Our friend's b-day is just around the corner. I have faith I will get it done. I seem to do better under pressure.

I have also started a new album that I'm really excited to do. I cant give much details yet because I dont know whose eyes may wander in here. I will definitely keep you updated on that.

Going back into party planner mode once again. I've decided to throw a huge bash for my hubs & his best friend for their 40th b-days. It wont be until September. Trying to locate venues & dj's right now. It's a little hard when you are new to an area. Any suggestions please email me. Since my hubby is 100% Irish, & we got married on St. Patty's Day, I'm running with the St. Pattys/Green thing. He has always wanted a huge irish shindig, so there ya go. I'm thinking I can get a lot of it after St. Pattys for half the price. Gotta get creative though & come up with some good ideas for food/drinks/decor. Will keep you posted on that endeavor too. :)

Well, I'm off to scrapbook. Will be back with more updates soon. Until next time....Toodles

Big Cupcakes

I missed a day...I'm so sorry. I have been sick with a horrible cough & it finally took its toll on me.

Today we experienced our first ice storm. It was kind of neat to see. I'm quite sure my hubby would not share my enthusiasm at all. He went ahead and trudged into work to find only a handful of people actually showed up. We lived in northern Idaho & have seen our share of SNOW. I can honestly tell you that these people here do NOT know how to drive in the icy conditions. I cant believe how quick they shut everything down & call for a state of emergency. I'm not saying that ice is a good thing. It should'nt be taken lightly, but it was driveable, you just have to go S L O W. It all turned out good. The company ordered pizza for everyone that showed up to work & they got to go home after lunch with pay. All the others who called off have to use vacation time or not get paid. So it ended up good for us. :)
As for the cakes I have been playing with. I have learned something new & ways to improve every cake I've done. I'm so glad that I take the pictures so I can critique them & learn better ways to do them the next time. I have to apologize for the quality of the pics. I have horrific lighting in the kitchen & my skills are'nt much better. Most of them are dark. I think I may go get one of those tri-fold display boards & see if that might lend more brightness to it. Anyways, here is what i have.

The first one I did was the birthday one with the lil ballerina on top for my daughter's friend.

The next one I did was for my girlfriend's birthday. She loves horses. Hence the cowgirl cake. lol

The next one was for my daughter's birthday & it came out cool but NOT the look I was going for. I was so disappointed in it. I wanted it to be black & hot pink swirled together. Apparently I need to work on that a bit. They kind of melded together & came out a mess. However, my daughter loved it. Luckily she could'nt see my vision. Hahaha

The last thing I did was regular cupcakes for my daughter's friend again. They were having a baby shower for her at work. Her colors were blue & brown with the Browning Deer head logo. These were also a bit of a mishap too. I made up the cakes & the frosting color was perfect. I packaged them up & set them in garage to keep them cool. In the morning my hubby grabbed them to deliver them & they were this hideous bright robins egg blue. Not her color at all. I still have no idea why they turned. They all loved them but I was a little bummed because they did'nt look exactly right.

The cookies were for the shower too. I did find. that I really need to hone my writing skills with the pastry bag. LOL It is not as simple as it looks on tv. I loved how they came out, especially the ribbon tied on the ends. I will have to practice with the icing consistency & writing for future orders. *Ü*
I also made this box of cookies for Miss Kaylin's appearance. I covered a box with scrapbooking paper. I then stamped the Cherish words all the way around. I put some flowers on lollipop sticks & made a flower cookie bouquet for her mommy.

Last, but not least, is the Christmas cake I did for a friend. I love how this one came together. I somehow screwed up the time for pick up & was in a mad rush to finish while they waited. lol Next time I will use a darker frosting to adhere the candy canes. I thought it was real cute & festive though. They loved it.

I have an order for a zebra & hot pink cake in a couple of weeks. One of our friend's daughters is turning 15. I managed to come up with a template to make a GIANT cup cake liner out of zebra scrapbooking paper. I'm going to dye the frosting hot pink & decorate it with black feathers & hot pink curly ribbons. I have a couple of ideas for the top but not sure which one I will go with. You will have to check back the middle of february to see what I chose. She also wants lil mini cupcakes on the side. This order will be a lot of fun.

Off to sew some more of Landon's quilt. I'm also working on a mini photo album shaped like a purse. Of course, with all the zebra accessories laying all over I made it zebra with a little bling. I am hoping to have the outside done to share this weekend. So have a great weekend & hopefully we dont get totally iced in. ~Toodles

Sammy's Star Album

Two posts today. Write it on the calendar because it probably wont happen again in this lifetime. Hahaha Since I have the crown for being the worst blogger ever! I told you a few days back that I was working on a mini album for my future daughter in law Sammy. I got it finished & wanted to share it with you.

It came out cuter than I had imagined. I think she will love it since all the pics are special to her. It was super easy & blast to put together. If you get the chance to make one...do it. They are a lot of fun. They also make great holiday, teacher & hostess gifts. I already have two requests for one.

Well I am off to finish up dressing those dollies that were on the list from the other day too. Got them all sewn & stuffed. I just have to dress their naked bodies & put their faces on. Will be back to show them to you soon. Have a wonderful weekend. Toodles♥

A Girl Just Has To Have Fun

Yep, I decided to give myself a day off. YIPPEE!! I am taking the day to do some fun things at home. I have had sugar cookie dough (recipe courtesy of Heidi) waiting to be rolled out for a day & a half. So yeah, I am thinking lets get this taken care of. My son Taylor has been chomping at the bit for those to be done. I also am going to scrap today. I am feeling inspired by my friend Laura's constant creativity. Look at all her awesome cards that she is constantly just throwing together daily. When I grow up....I want to be just like her. Hahaha I need to finish my 12 on the 12th page as well as, a handful of pictures that I have been playing with on the computer. I discovered the Mosaic Maker on Flickr it is sooooooo much fun. You have to go play with it.

The other pleasure blog that I discovered last night is My Romantic Home. Oh, I am in love with the way she has everything decorated in white with splashes of beachy blue, pale yellow & baby pink. She also refinishes furniture & it is all so incredible. Can you tell I am in awe of her talents. Look through her flickr photos labeled "Around My Home". I wish I could just go thrifting with her. I want her eye for things to just rub off on me. LOL

I am excited to say I finally scheduled the date for the BIG rummage/moving sale. It will be held in town on May 17th. I have a ton to do still. I need to get everything priced. I will be so happy to have a dent in the mountain done after this sale. It will be a breath of fresh air.

I know I am subject bouncing all over the place today. The latte has kicked in. McDonalds in our town advertised that they are giving away free small lattes on friday mornings until 10:30. Can you say Woo Hoo. Yes, free fits my tight budget these days. LOL They have all those new mochas, lattes, iced coffees....YUM It is some sort of war against that other place that has star in the name. LOL It is called the Unsnobby Coffee Promo. I personally have no problem with the other place....just love a good free gift. ;)

One last thing for the day. Two more weeks until Taylor's prom. He has chosen the Zoot Suit Tux. It is too funny but fits his personality to a T. We live in a small town that doesn't allow the kids to have prom in the "big city".....shhhhh dont tell others but they may drink, drive & have sex according to the school district honchos. Well all I have to say about that is "Get Real". If the kids are going to do those things it doesn't take a trip to the "Big City" to get r done. Just my opinion. Anyways, he has been a good kid & has really not asked for too much over the years so I want to give him the tux he wants. He has been fitted for it, the flowers have been ordered & he is deciding where to go for dinner. It should be a fun night for them. Will share photos after the big event. They grow up so fast. *shedding a tear* I still cant believe two fo my three babies are gong to be flying the coop. It was just yesterday that they were toddlers. Grab those kids & hug em & love em....they are gone before you know it & onto a new season in their lives. :(

Ok so I am off to have some fun. I will see you all back here tomorrow to show off my fun day. Enjoy your day with whatever you may be doing. Make it a fun one.

Didn't Take Long

to have my meltdown. Two whole days in fact. LOL Was having a pretty good day I thought & bam out of nowhere....the tears came rolling. Not sure if I had just been holding it all in. I thought I was at peace with hubby leaving & knowing I have to get everything all ready. I think it finally hit me that he is gone & it is on me. LOL Everything is just better when he is here. He makes me laugh & smile & nothing seems to big to handle. It is going to be a long 43 days. What a baby huh? I dont know how those wives do it that have hubbies gone for long periods of time. I dont think I would make it. So I am scrapping a page for the day he left. I finally got the pictures to upload in the format I wanted. I will show you the completed project once I get the embellishments added. But here is a sneak peek of the photos.
It is almost done in "A Day In The Life" style. More details to come......

I found this ongoing project over at Twelve of Twelve. It is a monthly project that Susan Keuter is doing. It's a whole lot of fun. Go check it out & join in with us.

Yesterday before the meltdown....I went down in the basement to start organizing my side. The side with the mountains of fabric, patterns, scrapbook paper & just everything & anything related to crafting you can imagine. Well I walked down looked at it....turned around & walked right back up the stairs. LOL It just seems so overwhelming & mountainess...Is that a word? LOL So today I vow to go back down & get that small room in the corner done. Kids are having half day so I hope Taylor will help me drag garbage & unwanted items up the stairs.

As you probably guessed...I didn't quite get my dollie done. Got her dressed. I just need to put her face & hair on. You know a girl isn't complete without her hair & makeup. LOL Hoping to get that done this week. I have a ton to do....just need to get going on it.

Oh and it snowed yesterday. I know you all are probably sick of my weather updates. I just cant believe we are still getting snow from time to time. Just really weird weather. We had one day of sunshine & that was the day hubby left. If you look on the 12x12 photo above you can see it. I took pictures of the bridge here in town & the drive up our road. Have I said I LOVE it here & dont want to move. LOL Ok I wont keep complaining about it. Whats done is done. Moving on....literally!

Well have a happy productive day.

*One More Day*

until the big giveaway! **YIPPEE** Are you totally excited? I am! I will be using Random.Org for the official winning number. I figure that is as fair as you can get. I will draw the winning number first thing in the morning & announce it here. I will then need the winner to email me their home addy. Wishing you all the best of luck tomorrow. Thank you so much for playing with me & visiting my life. LOL

I had so much fun making my Spring Dollie that I decided to get another one going. Here is a peek of my naked dollie. Dont you just love those fabrics? I am in love with brown & pink these days. Not the turquois & brown so much. *Bleck* I adore the little stars on the fabric too. This one will be put into my Etsy shop once I get her done.

Now on to my MITM (Monkey In The Middle) project. I finished up my baby girl spoolie mini album. I just love how this came out. It is so girlish & cute. It is a little mini album. I will be listing this today or tomorrow on Etsy as well. I am also making ready made spoolie kits that can be purchased there as well. The kits will contain all the elements & instruction for creating your own spoolie mini album. I will do all the work for you. You get to do the fun part of creating your memory masterpiece! *Ü* I am really excited about this endeavor. Let me know what you think of them once I list them.

Well I think that about covers my day. Hope you all are having a terrific Monday.
